This exhibit and blog have been developed with the hope that researchers and the public can interact, share, and discuss the African American past and how researchers discover that past. Commenting and interaction, therefore, is paramount to creating a good dialogue. We ask that commenters are respectful when engaging in conversations and discussions about the content of this online exhibit: the issues of race, slavery, freedom, and African American history can often be sensitive issues, and we expect those of you who interact on the site to be respectful and tolerant of multiple points of view and perspectives of the past.
The moderators of this site, comprised of employees of Historic St. Mary’s City, reserve the right to remove any comments that are inflammatory, disrespectful, or hurtful. Additionally, all forms of solicitation or advertising will be removed from the site, as this is a place for the sharing and discussing of ideas.
